ALPI forests in Cameroon obtain FSC® certification
The company has reached an important sustainability goal: the ALPI forestry concessions in Cameroon have obtained FSC® (FSC®-C129174) certification, and its output wooden products can now be sold FSC® 100%, the highest mark of distinction for FSC®-certified products.
Sustainability has always been central to the ALPI philosophy. Since 1975, the company has been responsibly managing forestry concessions in the Congo Basin, the second largest rainforest in the world after the Amazon. Through its subsidiaries ALPIcam and Grumcam, ALPI manages over 300 thousand hectares of forest in Cameroon.
From the start, ALPI has worked toward the development of its manufacturing activities while fixing sustainability goals to reach elevated environmental, social and economic standards. During the past 50 years, this commitment has grown exponentially, resulting in FSC® certification, which indicates that all the criteria and principles established by the Forest Stewardship Council® for proper forest management have been met. The certificate means that the ALPI timber operations are respectful of the environment, socially beneficial and economically effective.
