ALPI x Bethan Laura Wood / Summer Room Endless Meisen
ALPI has embarked on yet another collaboration with the internationally famous British designer Bethan Laura Wood, whose work was displayed during the Milan Design Week 2022 at Nilufar Depot, Viale Lancetti 34. Connected to Wood's "Ornate" exhibition held at Nilufar Gallery in 2021, the new show "A Summer Room" is an exploration of the boudoir – a woman’s private space for spiritual contemplation and body care. The furnishing is inspired by the British aesthetic movement and art nouveau, with pieces that are a combination of two-dimensional decoration and three-dimensional form. As she did for "Ornate", Wood has chosen ALPI veneer as the basis of the ornamental pattern for her new installation. Yellow-and-green-streaked sheets of ALPI create a colourful accent motif for the immersive "A Summer Room". The space is furnished with the Meisen cabinets and desk designed by Wood in 2021, which feature the dazzling hues of a bespoke ALPI veneer, specifically selected by the designer for its ripples, waves and feathered edges of each colour. It echoes Wood's love of kimonos made of ikat-woven meisen silk.
