Motopanfilo 37M Benetti | Design Lazzarini Pickering

Modern design with a nod to tradition describes the new Motopanfilo Benetti, a 37-metre yacht that evokes memories of nautical highlights from the 1960s. The interior decoration by Lazzarini & Pickering Architects combines utterly new elements with symbols and references to the past, in an approach that favours a boatlike atmosphere above homelike surroundings. Materials meticulously selected by Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering include ALPIlignum Teak Flamed from the Legacy collection, used for the boat's ceiling and floor. The ALPI Legacy collection curated by the company's art director, Piero Lissoni, takes inspiration from "lost" types of wood such as ebony, Honduran mahogany, teak and rosewood, which are not readily available or in some cases illegal to use. With this unique and sustainable collection, ALPI makes available ecological veneers that are replicas of their unattainable natural counterparts. These precious woods now have a new life as surfaces for contemporary living.
